【MISO】What Miso-Making Taught Me

スポンサーリンク

I’m filled with so much gratitude.
Thank you.

…Meanwhile,
we hadn’t made our own family miso at all… (lol)
So the other day, I finally made miso at home with my kids.

6-year-old mixing

Packing it in

Well, to be honest,
the kids did almost all of it for me (lol)
Their little hands have grown so much over the years.

Around age 2, sneaking bites of the handmade koji, shouting “Koji!” (now 6 years old)

Every year, I get to witness how much they’ve grown.

Tomorrow is my youngest child’s kindergarten graduation.
Thinking that we won’t have any more toddlers in the house…
suddenly makes me feel a bit lonely.

*******

Miso we made will be ready around October.

I’ve come to realize that making miso
is like giving a gift to our future table.

Sitting together one day, saying,
“Hey, this is the miso we made back then,”
and sharing a meal with that memory—
I’m already looking forward to that day.
